He moved to Atlanta records and had a hit with his third release  "In the Midnight Hour".

He died of heart disease on April 5, 2006.

Singer, guitarist, actor Elvis Aaron Presley born January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi was knicknamed “The King of Rock ‘n Roll or just “The King”.

In the fifties he had his first number one with “Heartbreak Hotel” followed by a string of hits including  "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You", "Hound Dog", "Love Me Tender", "Too Much", "All Shook Up" and "Jailhouse Rock". He concentrated on his film career in the sixties but also had hits with "Stuck on You", "It's Now or Never", "Are You Lonesome Tonight?", "Can't Help Falling in Love", "Good Luck Charm", "Return to Sender" and "Suspicious Minds". He died (cardiac arrhythmia) on the 16th August 1977 at the age of 42.

Progressive rock band Procol Harum formed 1967 in London, England. Gary Brooker met lyricist Keith Reid and composed a number of songs which included the classic “A Whiter Shade of Pale”. The song structure was partly modelled from Johann Sebastian Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, “Air On A G String”.  

The record reached number one in the U.K. in June 1967 and was followed up by the top ten hit “Homburg”. Albums of the sixties included “Procol Harum”, “Shine on Brightly” and “A Salty Dog”.

Born September, 1941 in Dawson, Georgia. Otis Ray Redding, Jr. was an American soulsinger, songwriter who was often called the “King of Soul”.

He moved to Volt Records a subsidiary of the renowned Stax records and released a string of singles including "Mr. Pitiful", "Stand by Me", "I've Been Loving You Too Long", "Respect", "My Girl", "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction", "Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa (Sad Song)", "Try a Little Tenderness" and the posthumous number one "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay". He was killed along with four members of The Bar-Kays when the airplane he was travelling in crashed into Lake Monona in Madison, Wisconsin, on December 10, 1967.

The Drifters (who a year later were renamed The Shadows) and had an instant hit with “Move It”. He had two U.K. number one records in the fifties "Living Doll" and "Travellin' Light". In the sixties he notched up over thirty U.K. top ten hits including seven number ones "Please Don't Tease", "I Love You", "The Young Ones", "Bachelor Boy", "Summer Holiday", "The Minute You're Gone" and the U.K. Eurovision song of 1968 "Congratulations". He was knighted on 25th October 1995.

Vocal duo, Bill Medley born September, 1940 in Santa Ana, California and Bobby Hatfield born August 1940, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin formed The Righteous Brothers in 1962.  They released a number of  unsuccessful songs with Moonglow Records including “Little Latin Lupe Lu”, “My Babe”, “Try To Find Another Man” and” Bring Your Love To Me”. In 1965 they began recording with the Producer Phil Spector and had a number one record both sides of the Atlantic with “You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'”. Other hits of the sixties include “Just Once In My Life”, “Unchained Melody”, “Ebb Tide” and their other number one “(You're My) Soul & Inspiration”.

In 1958 the Miracles changed their name from the Matadors and were the first artists to join Motown. They had hits with a number of records including

"Shop Around", "You've Really Got a Hold on Me", "Mickey's Monkey", "I Like It Like That" and "The Tracks of My Tears". In 1967 as Smokey Robinson & the Miracles hits included  "I Second That Emotion" and "Abraham, Martin & John".

American singer-songwriter Thomas David Roe born May 1942, Atlanta, Georgia.

Tommy Roe formed a high school group called The Satins and in 1960 they recorded the song he wrote “Sheila”. The single was unsuccessful, but when he secured a solo record contract with ABC-Paramount Records in 1962 he revived the song and it topped the Billboard Charts in September that year. Other records of the sixties include “Susie Darlin’”, “Everybody”, “The Folk Singer”, “Sweet Pea”, “Hooray for Hazel”, “It's Now Winters Day”, “Heather Honey” and the number one which topped in both America and Britain in 1969 “Dizzy”.

Formed 1962, London, England "The Rollin' Stones" signed to Decca Records in 1963 and changed their name to “The Rolling Stones”. Their first release “Come On” composed by Chuck Berry just missed the U.K. top twenty.
